Recently the Friends of the Duxbury Free Library were able to give the Library $15,000 to be used for much needed library materials, but this is just a small part of what we have been able to do over the past six years with the support of our donors. Since 2000, the Friends has raised approximately $120,000. These funds have permitted the Library to maintain its state accreditation and helped to support and pay for the following:
- Over 400 hardcover and audio books;
- A defibrillator to support Duxbury’s health initiative;
- Children’s room furniture reupholstering;
- Library programs (up 23% this year);
- Scholarships for graduating Duxbury seniors;
- An annual summer reading program (with 5,000 participants in the last 6 years);
- An annual award-winning Young-Adult Video Contest;
- "Welcome to Kindergarten" books (over 800 donated to Chandler School students);
- An annual “Hot Reads and Hidden Treasures” panel discussion with library staff.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
