Library Director, Carol Jankowski is presented with a check for $12,000 from the Friends of the Library Treasurer, Maureen Cederlund to be used for the library’s materials and programs budget. The size of this gift demonstrates the Duxbury community as significant supporters of the library and should secure the library’s state accreditation for 2012. The Duxbury Free Library thanks the Friends and its membership for their generosity.
The Friends of the Duxbury Free Library is a multi-generational, volunteer group with a mission to enrich the lives of every Duxbury citizen from the youngest to the oldest by promoting, advocating for and supporting our Library. Funds raised through the Friends provide for the materials budget and make possible many diverse and impressive programs to patrons yearly. Since 2000, the Friends has raised over $215,000. In 2011, the Friends contributed:
$12,000 for library materials such as new books, eBooks, CDs, and DVDs;
$6,000 for the Children's and Young Adult's Summer Reading Programs; and
$3,100 for MANGO Languages - an online language learning program.
Membership is open to any person interested in supporting the purpose of the group. By joining the Friends and providing ongoing support, you can become a part of our important mission.
